Immediately after the conclusion of the 6th International Religious Freedom Summit, USCIRF Chair Vicky Hartzler spoke on platform X regarding the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security’s decision to prosecute and detain Dr.Nguyen Dinh Thang


The arrest warrant issued by Vietnam for Dr.Nguyen Dinh Thang, a U.S. citizen and CEO /President of BPSOS, is yet another example of transnational repression.The U.S gov should sanction Vietnamese officials involved in this targeted attack on a FoRB advocate .”


U.S Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz Delivers Message at

Summit in Washington,D.C.


Speaking at the summit’s plenary session, U.S.Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz affirmed U.S policy against transnational repression targeting U.S citizens.

raises concerns about his treatment by authorities since his extradition to Vietnam from Thailand. The U.S.Department of State should designate Vietnam a CPC for systematic,on going,and

egregious FoRB violations .”


During the two day summit , the Vietnamese delegation held numerous meetings and interactions with USCIRF Commissioners to receive updates on ongoing religious persecution in Vietnam
